Wow. School is terrible. College classes suck, high school classes are hard, even more so when you sleep through them. Maybe having an online job, two online college classes, and a bunch of high school assignments, online, wasn’t the best idea.
Hello Jackets. It’s me, Landon Bryson, writing to you with the honest truth that today is not a good day. I’m choosing to be open about this even though I’m not usually vulnerable with stuff.
With the last two weeks, college classes have been rough. I’ve had to send email after email to figure out accommodations, because, if for some reason this is the first blog post you’ve read, let me tell you that I’m blind. I’ve also had two high school classes, one of them being an AP class that I know hasn’t even begun to get difficult yet, but is already feeling challenging.
Also, remember peoples, I am the king of academic clubs and extracurricular activities. I’m in lots of clubs and go to lots of meetings, and those clubs are about to kick off into high gear soon.
I’m starting an online training for a potential guide dog, which is also online and has five different courses of information. My online job is about to start soon, with meetings and online work having to be completed before that.
I don’t say all of this to complain. I say all of this to inform. See, I’m usually a very negative person; if someone brings up a situation that happened, or something that didn’t go as planned for them, I usually jump to the negative side of things. With everything going on, not to mention some personal stuff, sometimes when I get home, I just want to lay down and never get up. I just want to be miserable and sleep.
I know, however, that if I did this, nothing would get done. If I succumbed to the exhaustion and depression and anxiety, and every other negative feeling I had, I wouldn’t get any work done. I wouldn’t be the amazing person I present myself as. I wouldn’t be as healthy, as happy, and as productive. Everything that I’ve worked for would go to waste.
I’m not a positive person, and I’ve never claimed to be. But I do try to be grateful for everything I have, and although I struggle with it sometimes, I’m really trying to persevere. The bottom line is that most people aren’t going to care what you go through, even if you don’t get anything done. Time is going to pass anyway. You might as well spend it wisely.
I hope that this can serve as a reminder during the tough times, when we feel down and exhausted, and like there’s a huge weight on our shoulders. I hope that we can focus on the support we know we have, and if we don’t feel any, I hope we can all take a minute to focus on all the things we’ve accomplished. Those accomplishments don’t have to be the end if we don’t let them.
Anyways, sorry for the nihilistic post, but that’s it for this week. I hope this helps someone who feels like they can’t get up. I also hope I don’t fall asleep in fourth block today, but that’s a different story. Until next time, it’s your favorite blind Jacket.
